What Would Happen If?

You woke up one day and suffered a major stroke or illness that left you on disability? Would you have enough income to support you should this happen?

On July 5th, I suffered a massive aneurism. Well actually not one but two. On July 6th, they rushed me in the operating room where doctors performed open head surgery. I woke up thinking I still had a headache, when I was told that they had just performed a major head surgery and that I would be several weeks in the hospital and little did I know at the time, that I had to relearn things like walking, identifying objects, reading and doing simple things like following a simple conversation. Little did I know that day that my entire life would change.

For a brief time, I was not able to remember what work I did with children and single parents, except what the doctors told me I did based on information passed on to them by family and friends. Bit by bit, I was gathering information on who was Miranda Mercuri. Day by day, I was gaining strenght, learning how to do all the things I once did.

Now 6 months later, nearly completely rehabilitated, I was back on track teaching individuals and couples the importance of buying leverages that will enable families to focus on financial independance where more and more becomes less and less.

Rich Dad, said more and more meant leverage and less and less meant working less while the income comes into your household. The poor and middle class believe in physical labour as their form of leverage and this is a dangerous financial move because while they perform physical labour day in and day out, the richer are using you as leverage for them to become richer and do less and less.

While you do not need to be a financial genious to be able to retire in a few short years, you do need to take initiative in getting a financial education where you can familiarize yourself with words such as leverage and assets and liabilities, good and bad debt.

The million dollar question resides in "what can you do to do more with less and less". Meaning, what can you do to bring in more income using less phyical labour than you are currently doing.

If we take for example a wheelchair as a form of leverage to enable a person with a disability to get from point A to point B, we can generate an electric wheelchair or scooter, to get from point A to point B in less time and far less physical work.

The same idea is used to get you richer. What business leverages can you come up with to help you get from point A to point B, using more and more to achieve less and less?

Feel free to discuss ideas with me personally via email. If you would like an idea or two to help you with leverage ideas, I would be more than happy to share them with you.

On this note, you need to develop a WHY that is strong enough to enable you to pursue this dream, whatever it may be. While I knew my WHY before my injury, the injury simply enabled me to WANT it more by realizing how important it was for me to be able to spend more time doing what I love doing and was meant to do, and reach out to alot more people and more people doing less and less so that they too can do the same as me and millions of people out there.

Helping Kids Stay in School

Helping youths acquire the motivation and desire to continue to be the best they can in and out of school; plan their future by discovering, igniting and aiming for their hearts' desires does not have to be an enormous challenge.

Like adults, children can become frustrated and discouraged with life challenges, feel depressed and lose the motivation and desire required to perform certain activities.

Without knowing how to keep focused on their hearts desires through this common cloud of frustration, setting goals no longer becomes enjoyable, as they try to find meaning and purpose to their life, education and their future. Falling off track like this, lies the danger of them seeking other means in trying to capture a false sense of belonging. This is why helping them acquire and maintain self-worth is so important in helping them stay focused, in addition to helping them clearly identify their values, visions and goals.

One's level of self-worth is going to determine how far they go in life in terms of acheiving their hearts desires however consists of many factors: what is taught at home by parents, schools, role models and mentors. Do you know who they are?

In the Families Moving Forward workshops we will be discussing these concerns and how to help your child become interested in their future. Stay tuned as we develop the blog and websites to download planners and upcoming events.

Creating Cash Flow on One Income

As a Single Parent & Youth Advisor, working with single parent families in the Ottawa Carleton region, it doesn't surprise me to see money spent on unnecessary items that does not bring you revenue.

It doesn't surprise me because our school system does very little to educate us in the financial world.

Spending at least 30 minutes per week on financial goal setting is going to require a committment on your part. If you want to lose weight you will commit to x amount of time daily to exercise and learn new eating habits that will assist you on your weight loss journey. The same applies to your finances, your relationships, your health, your spirituality and your career.

In the upcoming workshops with the help of financial planners and coaches, we will help you find cashflow and help you redefine your financial goals so that one day in the near future you will be able to pursue some of your dreams.

In the meantime I invite you to log your expenses for the next 30 days.. and yes including each coffee you get through Tim Horton's...they will give you a receipt.

In an excel spreadsheet you can easily create an expense folder that will list all your expenses i.e.,
groceries, cable tv, cel phone, entertainment, take out food, gas and hydro bills, rent/mortgage, fitness memberships, long distance plans etc...If you don't have such a program on your computer, it is easily done in an expandable file folder that you can pick up at any dollar store. Each time you spend money, throw it in there.

When you have completed this, go through them all and categorize them in a sheet of paper called Wants and Needs.

Do you really need Cable TV? I am amazed at how many say "yes"...Our family is working out just fine without cable tv... It has been almost 6 years now. With access to the internet who needs cable tv? How much is that nowadays? I will assume around $50.00/mth minimum.

Now could you place that $50.00 towards a debt you want to pay off....such as a credit card payment? If you don't have credit card payments, could you put it in an education fund for your children or an emergency cash flow account?

You get the idea...surely you can find 200.00/mth easily to put towards a debt, or invest in a business opportunity that will bring you even more cashflow and use that cashflow to reinvest or if you haven't done so already create an emergency cash flow fund.

Join us at our upcoming workshops at the Tanglewood Community Centre and learn how you can earn more money.... To register email me at bygachievers@gmail.com Seats are limited so register early.

To your success,

Miranda Mercuri

Helping Families Move Forward

Let's talk about helping you create the money you desire for you and your children. For years I worked with single parents and their youths as my niche market teaching them literacy skills, goal setting, vision and values, relationship/selling skills, and working out anger, fear and sorrow. I was then able to take this into the workplace where I was able to help alleviate the personal stresses of individuals in the workplace through presentations and public speaking engagements with United Way.

Now I am taking this to a whole new level. With all the families I worked with they all had one thing in common. Financial difficulties. Helping Families Move Forward is about removing the mental and emotional roadblocks to achieving financial independance.

I first learned through a local Ottawa doctor who mentored me since the age of 21 when I had my first born child. Scared, unsure of the future and how to raise a child, Dr. Joe Dietrich became my teacher and my friend and I am going to share with you how to increase your financial worth by working on those areas. This is not a counselling program, but a mentoring program should you chose to become partners with me on this financial journey.

My goal is to create some of the wealthiest single income earners Globally using multiple streams of income.

But first, we need to start small before we can grow big. We need to work on your personal budgeting skills, your goals, your dreams and desires. The only thing I ask of you is that you are honest with me and with yourself as to wether or not you are ready to see yourself succeed one step at a time with not "buts", no "what if's" and no "too good to be true." I am interested in those who believe they can do whatever it is they desire in life but feel they are stuck.

Are you ready to embark with me?

If yes, I offer services on a scaling fee, meaning geared to income counselling.

Secondly, I invite you to the Families Moving Foreward group work starting in September 2009 at the Tanglewood Community Centre in Ottawa. We will have financial planners and coaches there to help you every step of the way.
To register please call Miranda Mercuri at 613-255-5473.

To your success,
Miranda
